Teague’s Tayvis Coleman was named the Texas Built Ford Tough Player of the Week for Class 3A after a brilliant effort against Malakoff.

Coleman carried 23 times for 221 yards and two touchdowns in propelling the Lions to a 35-14 upset, snapping the third-ranked Tigers’ winning streak at 21. Coleman was also huge on the defensive side, coming up with two interceptions from his spot at strong safety.

Speaking of the Texas Built Ford Tough award, Midway quarterback Tanner Mordecai will be presented with his honor from Week 5 of the season at a 1:40 p.m. pep rally on Thursday at the high school.
