The Eagles scored first in their first playoff game in 32 years, but couldn’t hold off the offensive onslaught from the Bulldogs.
Rice (7-4) scored 28 unanswered points in the teams’ Class 3A Division II bi-district meeting Thursday at Midway. Bruceville-Eddy (5-6) had trouble slowing down Rice’s running game, which got 123 yards and three touchdowns from Dee Robinson. Tre Jessie, meanwhile, scored on a 92-yard run and a 16-yard pass from Elizhah Nezar.
D.J. Weaver weaved his way to a game-best 169 yards and two TDs on 20 carries for the Eagles, but was picked off twice in the passing game.
