The Ivy League will have a Central Texas flair to it the next several seasons.

McGregor senior Michael Irons announced his commitment to Cornell to play football on Wednesday. Irons revealed the decision on Twitter, thanking his family, friends and coaches for their support.

Irons (6-1, 185) was first-team all-district at both defensive back and quarterback this season for McGregor. He made the transition to QB following an injury to the team’s original starter in Week 4, and finished with 788 rushing yards, 381 passing yards and 11 touchdowns.

Irons made 55 tackles defensively and broke up a pair of passes.
