Nothing like a win over an archrival to jump-start one’s season.
Lorena burst forth with 28 fourth-quarter points in rolling past Robinson, 56-14, on Friday night. It was essentially a must-win for both squads, given that they both entered the night at 0-2 in District 9-4A Div. II.
Lorena (2-6, 1-2) maintained a relatively subdued 28-14 lead entering the fourth quarter, which isn’t insurmountable for an explosive team like the Rockets (2-6, 0-3). But the Leopards put the game away by scoring four times in an eight-minute span, helped along by some slippery fingers from Robinson, which lost four fumbles on the night.
Bradley Lina passed for 120 yards and a touchdown for Lorena and added 114 rushing with three TDs. Thor Hoffman had 52 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
For Robinson, Mason Cooper passed for 165 yards and accounted for both of the Rocket TDs, one on a 24-yard strike to Matthew Bosang and another on a 5-yard keeper.
