KILLEEN — Looks like the China Spring Cougars are playoff-ready.

Tyrick James and Erik Hart scored two touchdowns apiece and Cayden Johnson fired three scoring passes as the Cougars clipped the wings of the Ducks, 48-0, in a Class 4A Division I bi-district playoff clash on Friday night at Leo Buckley Stadium. China Spring (8-3) will next face Somerset (9-2) in the area round of the 4A playoffs.

The Cougars’ defense stuffed Taylor (6-5) throughout the night, pitching their first shutout of the season at the perfect time to do it.

Johnson got the scoring started on the opening drive when he connected with James for a 52-yard strike. The quarterback later found Steven Russo on a 12-yard scoring toss and K.J. Peoples on a pretty 35-yard spiral.

Hart was tremendous running the ball, as he piled up more than 150 yards rushing in the first half alone.
