Ellison’s boys snapped Midway’s two-year winning streak at the District 8-6A cross country meet on Thursday morning at the Heart O’ Texas Soccer Complex.

The Eagles produced four top 10 finishers for a winning score of 35 points, followed by Belton in second with 45. Midway took third with 72 points.

However, Panthers senior Cal Johnston blew away the field on his way to the individual title, completing the three-mile course in 15:29.73.

On the girls’ side, Belton rolled to the district title with a winning score of 34 points, led by freshman Abigail Cargile claiming the win in a time of 18:46.07. Midway will also move on to regionals by taking second. The Pantherettes were led by junior Maggie Barnum (20:02.27) in 10th and freshman Hannah Bowden (20:09.04) in 11th.
