Bruceville Eddy’s Kyle Doty captured his second state title in four years on Satruday at the UIL State Cross Country Championships at Round Rock’s Old Settlers Park.
Doty posted a time of 15:24.02, a full ten seconds ahead of his next challenger. The senior has signed to run cross country at Tarleton State.
Blum’s Hope Thomas posted a 12:25.87 in the 1A girls class, good enough for 17th place. Hannah Huffines of Aquilla finished in 31st place with a time of 13:12.43
In the 2A girls division, Valley Mills saw Hannah Dillard grab fourth place, 12:08.38, and teammate Alyssa Rindorf grab 22nd place, 12:38.46.
The 2A boys found Jeremy Truesdale of Rosebud-Lott finishing in 15th place with a time of 17:13.24, with Ethan Agreda of Itasca just behind him with a 17:22.88. River Smith of Axtell came in 26th place with a time of 17:33.68. Itasca finished in eighth place as a team, Rosebud-Lott tenth.
The 3A girls division saw Bruceville-Eddy’s Makenna Sauceda finish in 19th place, the highest of the Central Texas runners for that group. Lizette Aqguilera of Teague finished 23rd with a time of 12:22.58.
In the 3A boys division, McGregor’s Ivan Solis scored the highest with a time of 16:35.10, good enough for 17th place. Clifton’s Israel placed 40th with a time of 17:14.97. McGregor placed 12th overall as team.
