Former state cross country and track champion Kyle Doty of Bruceville-Eddy added another title to his bulging trophy case, winning the Class 1A-4A boys’ division of the Hewitt Kiwanis Midway Cross Country Meet Thursday at the Heart O’Texas Soccer Complex.
Doty ran 15:46 over the three-mile course.
China Spring’s boys won the 1A-4A team title, placing two runners in the top 10.
In 5A-6A boys, Austin Westlake won the team crown with 55 points, followed by Midway in second with 88 and Waco High in third with 126. Alex Salas of Waco High took the silver medal at 16:12, behind Westlake’s Matthew Kearney (15:02).
Belton edged Westlake for the 5A-6A prize, led by overall champ Brooke Gilmore (18:14). Hamilton placed four runners in the top 10 of the 1A-4A girls to claim first, while Live Oak’s Celia Holmes (11:41) charged to the individual gold.
