Jonathan Gonzalez scored a pair of goals, and the Lions took the crosstown showdown between Waco ISD rivals over the Trojans.

Waco High (14-0-1 overall, 4-0-1 in district) was coming off its first non-win of the year, as it tied A&M Consolidated on Tuesday. But the Lions turned in a strong effort against the Trojans. In addition to Gonzalez’s big game, Adolfo Rodriguez, Caesar Solano and Raul Toribio all had goals for the Lions.

In the girls’ match, Waco High pulled out a 2-1 win over University.
