Lorena 9, Liberty 0

COLLEGE STATION – The Lady Leopards dominated their playoff opener.

Maddie Miller scored four goals for Lorena (18-2), and Kenzie Tuyo chipped in three more in the runaway win in the Class 4A bi-district playoffs. Haley Flores and Lauren Austin also found the net once apiece.

Lorena will move on to the area playoffs to face Little Cypress-Mauriceville, a 7-0 winner over Center

Irving Nimitz 2, Midway 1

MANSFIELD – Nimitz scored the game-winner just six minutes after Midway thumped in the equalizer, ending the Pantherettes’ season in the Class 6A bi-district playoffs.

Midway (11-6-2) trailed 1-0 at the half, but Miriam McCormick evened things up at the 36-minute mark of the second half when she found the net. However, Nimitz answered six minutes later, and will move on to the area round to face the Plano-Hebron winneR.

Gatesville 10, Anahuac 0

GATESVILLE – Behind a monstrous effort from Jessica Ortiz, Gatesville powered past Anahuac in the Class 4A bi-district playoffs. Anahuac had no answer for Ortiz, who shredded the nets for five goals. Gatesville had the game well in control by halftime, leading 6-0. Rachel Dunahoo, Italia Santosky, Kamberly Vega, Katrina Thoms and Eve Castelo also had goals for Gatesville (10-7), which will face either Diboll or Hamshire-Finnett in the area playoffs next week.

Belton 4, Cedar Creek 1

Rachel Ramm scored a pair of first-half goals, as the Lady Tigers moved past the Longhorns in the Class 6A bi-district playoffs at Waco ISD Stadium. Alison Navarro and Morgan Magara found the net in the second half for Belton, which will play Southlake Carroll in the area round.


Waco High 3, Lindale 1

CORSICANA – Sophomore Nate Lopez made the most of Waco High’s playoff opener, whacking a pair of second-half goals in spurring the Lions to a Class 5A bi-district win.

The game was scoreless at the half, but Waco High (20-1-1) found its rhythm in the second half. Lopez found the net twice, and Jonathan Gonzalez added a goal of his own.

The Lions will draw Pflugerville Connally (16-2-6) in the area playoffs next week.
