A trio of University Lady Trojans scored in double figures in a well-balanced 67-20 triumph over the Bryan Lady Vikings in District 18-5A basketball action on Friday night.
University junior guard Desirae Mathis popped off for a game-best 18 points, only two fewer than the entire Bryan team. Elaina Tate and Lyric McGowan contributed 10 points each, while Sheridan Gamble just missed being a fourth Lady Trojan in double figures, finishing with eight. University improved to 1-1 in the district with the win.
China Spring 74, Dublin 39
Behind 18 points from Gabrielle Cleveland, the Lady Cougars had no problem dispatching Dublin in a nondistrict contest.
China Spring (12-5) was efficient offensively, scoring inside and out in taking the runaway win. Junior Macie Reeves swished in 11 points for the Lady Cougars, and Alex Perkins and Taylor Webb picked up eight apiece.
West 50, Troy 41
WEST – Homestanding West pulled out a gritty win over Troy in a battle of two sets of Lady Trojans in District 19-3A action.
West improved to 8-8 on the season and 2-0 in the district with the victory.

Harker Heights 38
The 16th-ranked Pantherettes showed off some feisty defense in picking up their first win of District 8-6A play after a pair of losses to fellow state-ranked foes.
Midway (14-4, 1-2) held Harker Heights to only seven points in both the second and third quarters. Meanwhile, the Pantherettes passed the ball around and spread the wealth on offense, as 10 different players scored, led by Ja’Naiya Davis with 13 points. Shamaryah Duncan added eight.
Midway 60, Harker Heights 45
KILLEEN – The Panthers used a fourth-quarter surge to extend their lead into double digits and leave the Knights behind in the District 18-5A opener.
Midway (11-3 overall, 1-0 in district) held a 57-48 lead after three quarters, but pushed the gap past 15 three minutes into the final period.
Waco High 65,
#11 Connally 56
The high-flying Lions (10-7) stopped Class 4A’s 11th-ranked Cadets in a crosstown matchup.
Trajan Snell scored 19 for the Cadets (10-5) in the defeat. Both teams will begin district play on Tuesday, with Waco High taking on Temple in District 18-5A play and Connally facing off with Lorena in 17-4A action.
