Midway 62, Copperas Cove 39

The No. 23-ranked Panthers put together a strong effort on both ends of the court to take down the visiting Bulldawgs.

Midway (21-5, 5-2 in 8-6A) rebounded in style from a loss to Ellison earlier in the week. The win allowed Midway to retain sole possession of third place in the district in the hunt for the postseason. Cove dropped to 16-10 and 4-3.

Vanguard 60, McKinney Christian 51

The Vikings used a balanced offensive attack to take down the visiting Mustangs.

Vanguard (20-7, 2-0 in TAPPS 3-4A), ranked second in the state among TAPPS 4A teams, put three players in double digits in the scorebook. Braden Black hit for 16 points, Davis Boehm contributed 10 and George Eichenberg supplied 10.

Vanguard was able to take a season sweep over McKinney Christian after winning, 54-51, in overtime earlier this month in McKinney.

GIRLS

West 47, Troy 26

Raven Hlavenka’s 11 points helped spur district-leading West over Troy in a battle of two sets of Lady Trojans from District 19-3A.

Jill Davis added nine points for West (17-9, 8-1).
