It’s been a pretty special year for Groesbeck’s baseball team, and it got even better on Friday night.

Senior Chandler Boyd pitched a no-hitter as fifth-ranked Groesbeck clinched no less than a share of the District 19-3A title with a 2-0 win over Bruceville-Eddy.

Boyd, an Oklahoma Wesleyan signee, befuddled the homestanding Eagles all night, striking out 11 batters while improving his season record to 5-1. He owns a 2.04 ERA and 48 strikeouts on the year.

Boyd also helped his cause at the plate, as he tripled and scored a run for the Goats, who improved to 18-5 overall and 9-2 in district, a game ahead of two-time defending state champion West.

Groesbeck will close out the regular season at Whitney Tuesday.
