As the Bosqueville baseball team posed for a team picture just outside the left field line with the scoreboard in clear view as the moms snapped pictures, Kevin Bartley photobombed his own team as he jumped up and down, making his way from right to left behind the back row.
The Lorena softball team is moving on to the regional finals after a 3-2 victory over Huffman Hargrave on Saturday afternoon. Despite recording five hits to Hargrave’s eight, Lorena was able to edge out Hargrave for the victory.

AUSTIN — Justin Sawyers had the lead when he took the handoff. Heading into the final curve, though, Sawyers fell back to third. As La Vega’s anchor leg in the mile relay entered the home stretch, he went to the outside and started to kick. Sawyers found another gear and laid it all out on the track as he passed both runners in front of him with 50 yards to go and never looked back to give the Pirates the gold in the Class 4A mile relay.
After yet another historical season on the pitch, Katie Burnside felt a tug at her emotions every time she saw one of her teammates in the hallway at school after Lorena’s season ended in the regional finals.
It’s been an offseason of farewells for the longest-tenured of Central Texas’ football coaches, and now Mark Bell has decided it’s his turn.
