TAPPS six-man District 2 Division II high school football preview
TAPPS 6-MAN 2-II PREDICTIONS
| Team (enr.) | Last year |
|---|---|
| 1. Dallas Tyler Street | 12-1 |
| 2. Parkview | 5-6 |
| 3. Heath The Fulton | 0-10 |
| 4. Killeen Memorial | 1-8 |
DISTRICT BESTS
QB: Trevor Martinez, Tyler Street
RB: Josh Hunt, Tyler Street
REC: Aaron Westman, Parkview
LINE: Trevor Trammell, Parkview
DEF: Josh Hunt, Tyler Street
With four offensive starters back on offense and five on defense from a 12-1 season, Dallas Tyler Street looks nearly un-touchable in this district.
Parkview is a program on the rise, and it has designs on a playoff victory after a five-win improvment in 2009.
The Pacers should benefit from being in a district with a first-year varsity program in Killeen Memorial.
Parkview Pacers
Head coach: Joey Crenshaw (3rd season: 5-16)
Returning: 9 lettermen; 4 offensive, 4 defensive starters
Outlook: Parkview hopes to take another step forward after reaching the playoffs in 2009, one year after a winless season.
The Pacers are young with only two seniors, but Crenshaw is high on his junior class. One member of that group is his son, J.P. Crenshaw (right), who takes over at quarterback.
Parkview plans on running the ball, and that means the three big guys on the line will be counted on heavily. As Coach Crenshaw pointed out, “We’ve got some beef up front, and they’re pretty quick with good hands,” and that unit will be aided by J.P. Crenshaw’s ability to serve as a lead blocker through the hole. Center Trevor Trammell anchors the line.
Coach Crenshaw said the Pacers are weak on defense, “as most six-man teams are,” which is another reason they want to control the clock with the running game.
When they throw the ball, look for wide receiver Aaron Westerman to be a key target.
Parkview’s goal for the season is to win at least a playoff game, then look foward to what should be an even brighter 2011.
