* The second annual Screaming Summer Smash softball tournament will be held Saturday and Sunday at Live Oak Park in Lacy-Lakeview.

The tournament is open to girls’ 12-and-under teams. Every team is guaranteed five games.

* Todd Whitten, head football coach for Sam Houston State University, will host a football mini-camp on Tuesday and July 23 on the SHSU campus in Huntsville. Camp is open to athletes in grades 9-12. Cost is $40 and will include a T-shirt.

Campers will need to bring work out clothing, cleats and copy of athletic physical. Registration will be at 9 a.m. in the Ron Randleman Fitness Complex. For more information, call coach Ben Beasley at (936)294-3531 or e-mail brb023@shsu.edu.

* Midway Little League will host a baseball fundamentals camp Monday through Friday at Broughton Fields. Camp 1, for ages 4-7, is $50. Camp 2, for grades 2 through incoming freshman, is $65.

* The CenTex Predators, a local 14-and-under select baseball team, are looking for players to fill their summer and fall rosters. All positions considered.

* Registration is now under way for the city of Waco Parks and Recreation Department’s Waco Wave Swim Team. Registration is $100 per participant and open until June 27. The swim team is open to boys and girls ages 5 and up.

* The Texas Missfits, a local 14-and-under softball team, are looking for a couple of players to fill their roster. Most tournaments are played in Waco and Temple with practices in McGregor.

* The Waco Storm will hold summer camps through the months of June and July for players ages 5-18. Camps will consist of pitching, hitting and other drills. Space is limited to 20 participants per camp.

*Online registration is now under way for the Centex/Midway Peewee Football League. Registration is open to children ages 7-12 who are interested in tackle football.

* Tri-City Youth Football will host a football camp July 13-17 at Hewitt Park. Registration is $30 per child.

Heart Oý Texas Youth Football will hold early registration Saturday June 10th from 11 am to 1 pm for youth ages 7 through 12. Registration will be held at Academy Sports and Outdoors located at the New Road and Franklin intersection.

For safety, tackle participants are assigned teams according to age/weight rules. Participants are also assigned teams by their school district (Waco, China Spring, LaVega, Connally, West, Mart, Robinson/Lorena, and Mexia. Fees are $80 for tackle and $35 (plus uniform) for cheer.
