Today is Free Fishing Day in Texas — a day when people can fish anywhere in the state, whether they have a fishing license or not.

The free day is part of National Fishing and Boating Week, which comes at the start of the summer vacation season and is designed to encourage families to spend time together on and around water.

Park entrance fees, along with size and number limits still apply.
