The McLennan Community College women’s basketball team shook off a shaky first half and rolled to a 76-55 win over Southwestern Christian on Saturday.
The Highlassies (21-7, 13-1 NTJCAC) led by as many as eight in the first half but went into the break tied at 33. But MCC put any thoughts of an upset to rest quickly in the second half, building a 10-point lead with just over 10 minutes remaining and coasted from there.
Waco High product Richarda Outley, the Region V player of the week, scored 20 points, while Vannessa Simmons and Kiki Farley added 11 and 10, respectively.
The Highlassies will face Weatherford on the road at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in a game that could decide the conference title.
