Highlanders close in on playoffs

The McLennan Community College men’s basketball team had no problem with Southwestern Christian in a 90-65 rout Saturday.
It was the fourth straight win for the Highlanders (21-7, 8-4 NTJCAC), who kept themselves at least a game and a half ahead of Grayson for the conference’s fourth and final spot in the Region V tournament. Grayson hosted Temple on Saturday.
Catrell Currie led MCC with 17 points, including five 3-pointers, while former La Vega standout Jordan Glynn added 12. Tray Carmouche and Jamarcus Little put in 11 apiece.
The Highlanders, 6-1 on the road in conference, will face conference-leading Weatherford on the road at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
