Baylor has intercepted only nine passes in eight games, but has made them count.
The Bears have returned three interceptions for scores, including Clifton Odom’s 45-yarder in the third quarter for their only touchdown in Saturday’s 20-10 loss to Nebraska at Floyd Casey Stadium.
It was the biggest play of the day for the Bears.

“All of a sudden people who were feeling bad are feeling good,” Baylor coach Art Briles said. “The crowd’s excited, our sideline is excited, and suddenly they aren’t swallowing as easy on their sideline. It changes everything.”
Baylor’s other two interception returns for touchdowns came against Northwestern State by Chance Casey and Jason Lamb.
Crick a pain in the neck
Nebraska defensive lineman Jared Crick should be in contention for national defensive player of the week after a phenomenal performance against the Bears.
Crick set a school record with five sacks while posting a team-high 13 tackles, including 6.5 for losses. The 6-6, 285-pound sophomore also broke up a pass and recovered a fumble.
With the Bears concentrating on blocking Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, Crick was often left free to sack quarterback Nick Florence and haul down other ballcarriers.
“They were double-teaming Suh most of the game, so that gave me the opportunity to go one-on-one with the open lanes to kind of free rush,” Crick said. “It could have been anyone today with all those stats. It’s just a group effort.”
A number within reach
Normally under Art Briles, the Bears don’t bust if they prevent the other team from dialing up a 21.
But not this time around. Saturday’s loss marked the first time the Briles-led Bears have surrendered less than 21 points and lost. They fell to 7-1 in those games.
Points hard to come by
It’s been a while since scoring was such a difficult proposition for the Bears.
Baylor has scored just 34 points in four Big 12 games this year. That’s the least-productive four-game stretch since 2003, when Guy Morriss’ Bears produced just 27 points over four late-season losses to Texas, Kansas State, Texas Tech and Oklahoma.
The Bears failed to score an offensive touchdown in a Big 12 game Saturday for the first time since a 58-10 loss at Kansas in 2007.

One play does not make a great team.
