Freshman Briana Tolbert ripped a career-high 11 kills as the Baylor volleyball team snapped a four-match losing streak with a 25-21, 25-19, 25-23 win over Colorado Saturday night at the Coors Event Center.
Baylor (15-10, 7-8) also swept the Buffaloes in three games in the teams’ first meeting, the first time Baylor has picked up a pair of 3-0 wins over a Big 12 foe in a season since 2001. That’s also the last time Baylor made the NCAA tournament.
Tolbert hit .429 for the match, leading the Bears to a .262 percentage as a team. Katie Sanders tallied nine kills, while Ashlie Christenson added eight and Allison King had seven. Sanders and King also led BU’s back-row defensive effort with 11 digs apiece. For King, it marked her 20th straight match with double-digit digs.
Colorado came close to extending the match to a fourth game, pulling to within 24-23 with three straight points. But a Christenson kill sealed the sweep for the Bears.
Baylor will step outside of conference play for its next match, hosting TCU at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Ferrell Center.
