Baylor men’s basketball coach Scott Drew saw the benefit of playing a strong nonconference schedule last season and will do it again in the upcoming season.
The Bears’ 13-game nonconference schedule opens against Central Arkansas on Nov. 10 at the Ferrell Center and kicks into high gear with a four-game stretch that begins with the Hall of Fame Classic at the Sprint Center Nov. 20-21 in Kansas City.
Baylor will face Wisconsin at 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 20 before facing either UCLA or Creighton on Nov. 21.
The Bears will meet Xavier in Cincinnati on Nov. 28. Last season, the Bears knocked off No. 7 Xavier, 76-61, at the Ferrell Center en route to an unbeaten nonconference season that led to the school’s first ever No. 1 ranking in January.
The impressive four-game stretch will conclude Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. against perennial power Wichita State at the Ferrell Center. Baylor will play at Wichita State next season.
The Bears will return to Fort Hood to face Randall on Dec. 9 before coming home to play three games against Texas Southern on Dec. 14, Savannah State on Dec. 17 and Southern on Dec. 20.
Big 12 play will begin with a Dec. 29 date against Texas Tech in Lubbock before the Bears play two home games against TCU on Jan. 2 and Texas on Jan. 6.
Baylor will face defending Big 12 champion Kansas in Lawrence on Jan. 20 before a Feb. 10 rematch at the Ferrell Center.
In the middle of the Big 12 schedule, the Bears will make a trip to Gainesville to face Florida on Jan. 27 in the Big 12-SEC Challenge.
The final Big 12 regular season game will be against Kansas State in Manhattan on March 3 before the Big 12 tournament in Kansas City March 7-10.
