The Baylor men’s basketball program has received a verbal commitment from Ibby Ali, a 6-10 center from Maumelle, Ark.

Ali is the fourth commitment in Baylor’s 2018 class as he joins Austin Westlake forward Matthew Mayer, Palm Beach Community College guard Darius Allen and Mountain Mission School (Va.) center Flo Thamba. Mayer and Allen signed in November while Thamba and Ali are expected to sign during the NCAA spring signing period in April.

Ali was originally a 2017 recruit but didn’t qualify academically until December. He’s a native of Nigeria who came to the United States in 2014 and began playing basketball. As a senior at Maumelle in 2016-17, he averaged four points, six rebounds and 1.2 blocks.

Ali chose Baylor over Georgetown, Utah and Nebraska.
