Kristy Wallace and Team Australia lost their first game in Group D action to Russia, 63-58, at the 2017 World University Games on Tuesday night inside Gymnasium Heping Elementary School.

The two teams went through 11 lead changes. But it was Russia who closed well, outscoring Australia, 14-10, down the stretch to secure the victory.

Wallace, who has started every game at the World University Games, scored nine points, pulled down seven boards and dished out six assists. Through Group D play, the Lady Bear senior averaged 6.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists.

The Emerging Opals face the United States in quarterfinal action. The game is scheduled for 4:30 a.m. (CT) Friday.
