The Baylor Lady Bears host their second annual Type 1 Diabetes Awareness Game as Coppin State comes to town for a 2 p.m. tip on Sunday.
JDRF representatives will be on hand, and sophomore Lauren Cox, who had Type 1 diabetes, will be recognized.
“It’s really important just to go out there and show kids that they can do anything regardless of diabetes,” Cox said. “We had a great turnout last year. I look forward to seeing faces I saw last year and meeting new people. I want to give them some encouraging words just so they know that someone is out there that is doing something like this even with diabetes and that they can do that, too.”
The Lady Bears, who are 1-0 on the season after Friday’s win over Lamar, host a Coppin State team that returns three starters from last season in Genesis Lucas, Chance Graham and Candice Beverly. Lucas led Coppin with 13.8 points, 4.8 assists and 62 steals which ranked top five in the MEAC in every category. She was the first Lady Eagle to receive First Team accolades since 2014.
