Baylor football coach Matt Rhule downplayed speculation that basketball player Ish Wainright will play tight end for the Bears next season.
The 6-5, 240-pound Wainright played basketball for the Bears for four years, and averaged 5.5 points and 5.1 rebounds as a senior. He visited Baylor’s football practice in street clothes Tuesday afternoon.
“I don’t know about (playing tight end),” said Rhule. “I asked him to come over and help me with my jump shot. I’m struggling in the noontime basketball games. Ish is a winner so I invited him over to practice.”
Wainright would be eligible to play one season for the Baylor football team, but would have to work through compliance issues to be allowed to play.
