Baylor defensive lineman K.J. Smith’s college career is over after the NCAA denied a medical redshirt waiver for a sixth year of eligibility.

Smith played in just one game last season as a fifth-year senior due to leg injuries. He was a preseason all-Big 12 choice after collecting 11 tackles for loss and seven sacks as a junior in 2016.

After redshirting in 2013, Smith played in 39 games during his next three seasons with 24 starts. He finished his Baylor career with 139 tackles, including 26 for loss and 12 sacks.
