Baylor continued to bolster its offensive line as it received a verbal commitment from Johncarlo Valentin from ASA College in Brooklyn on Sunday.
Valentin is Baylor’s first junior college commitment in the 2018 class, and is expected to sign Feb. 7 during the NCAA’s second football signing period. The Bears signed 21 high school recruits during the early NCAA signing period in December.
Rated the No. 2 junior college guard by 247Sports, Valentin was a four-star recruit out of Imhotep Institute Charter High School in Philadelphia in 2016. He signed with Oklahoma out of high school, but went the junior college route. He was recruited by Matt Rhule and his staff at Temple University before Rhule took the Baylor job.
The 6-5, 330-pound Valentin chose Baylor over Tennessee, Texas and Arkansas. He’s the sixth offensive lineman in Baylor’s 2018 class as he joins high school signees Jackson Kimble, Ylijaah Hall, Princeton Pines, Connor Galvin and Casey Phillips.
