After four visits to Baylor, Fort Bend Ridge Point junior cornerback Jordan Tolbert knew where he wanted to play college football.
Tolbert made his verbal commitment to Baylor on Friday night to become the ninth pledge in the Bears’ 2015 class.
Tolbert had originally committed to Houston. He picked Baylor over Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona State, Wisconsin and other schools, and is anxious to play at McLane Stadium.
“I like the coaching staff and I can go there and get a good education,” Tolbert said. “I knew it was the right place to go. The new stadium is going to be real nice.”
The 5-11, 160-pound Tolbert, a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, intercepted two passes for Ridge Point last season and is highly regarded for his coverage skills. Tolbert said he’s going into his third season as a starting cornerback for the varsity and also returns kicks.
“I can play real good press man coverage,” Tolbert said.
Tolbert is potentially Baylor’s first defensive back verbal commitment in the 2015 class. Troup’s Blake Lynch, who committed to the Bears last fall, could play defensive back or receiver.
