The Indianapolis Colts head coaching job is open again after New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels decided not to take it Wednesday.
However Baylor coach Matt Rhule is not a candidate according to the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, who reported that Colts general manager Chris Ballard said that coaches who initially interviewed for the job are not being considered.
Rhule reportedly interviewed for the Colts opening in January, but had no comment when asked about it Wednesday as he reiterated his commitment to the Baylor football program.
“I don’t really talk about it when things like that come up,” Rhule said. “It’s always flattering when people are interested in you. But my focus is building the Baylor football program to where it needs to be.”
Coming off a 1-11 debut season, Rhule and his staff will open spring drills March 15 and hold the annual scrimmage April 21.
