Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty is among nine athletes who have been nominated for Big 12 Male Sportsperson of the Year.
Petty was named all-Big 12 last fall after passing for 4,200 yards and 32 touchdowns for Baylor’s conference championship team. Petty is also an academic all-Big 12 selection who is working on his master’s degree. He’s active in Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and has spoken to youth groups in Texas about sportsmanship and the importance of staying in school.
The other male nominees include Iowa State football player Jeff Woody, Kansas football player JaCorey Shepherd, Kansas State football player Ryan Mueller, Oklahoma football player Gabe Ikard, Oklahoma State wrestler Chris Perry, TCU baseball player Dylan Fitzgerald, Texas baseball player John Curtiss, and West Virginia rifle competitor Thomas Kyanko.
Both the male and female sportsperson of the year will be announced Thursday.
