With Katie Staiger and Shelley Fanning combining for 28 kills, the Baylor volleyball team blasted visiting LSU, 25-17, 23-25, 25-14, 26-24, on Wednesday night at the Ferrell Center.

Staiger, a 2016 All-American, kept up her sweet-swinging ways with a match-best 15 kills and added 13 digs for her seventh double-double of the year. Fanning had 13 kills and four blocks.

LSU (8-2) entered the night on an eight-match winning streak, but Baylor (7-3) struck early, hitting at a .326 clip in the opening set. The Tigers bounced back to pull out the second set, but the Bears cranked up their blocking in the final two sets to shut the door on LSU. Taylor Bannister topped the Tigers with 12 kills, but had 10 errors and finished with an .067 hitting percentage.

Jana Brusek and Aniah Philo picked up 21 digs apiece, and Hannah Lockin kept up her strong setting with 41 assists.

The Bears will host Texas State, UTSA and St. John’s in the Jason’s Deli Baylor Classic on Friday and Saturday.
