With Katie Staiger tying a season high with 26 kills, the Baylor volleyball team spurned Oklahoma, 25-10, 19-25, 25-14, 25-23, on Saturday afternoon at the Ferrell Center.
The Bears (13-4 overall, 3-1 in Big 12) came out sizzling, seemingly eager to make up for their first Big 12 defeat on Wednesday against Texas. But Oklahoma (3-14, 0-3) took advantage of .075 hitting from Baylor in the second set to even things up.
Baylor coach Ryan McGuyre called his team’s brief letdown “disturbing,” but the Bears recovered. Staiger proved steady throughout the match, hitting at a .444 clip. Aniah Philio picked up her second double-double of the year, contributing 13 kills and 12 digs.
The Sooners hit just .088 for the match. Baylor improved to 6-0 when holding teams under .100 hitting.
The Bears will face a step up in competition at No. 18 Iowa State on Wednesday.
