A trio of Baylor volleyball players were named as honorable mention selections to the AVCA All-American Team on Wednesday.
Sophomore Shelly Fanning and freshmen Yossiana Pressley and Hannah Lockin all earned that designation for Baylor. The three players honored by the AVCA marked a program high for Baylor.
Pressley whacked 391 kills while hitting .243 for the Bears this year at outside hitter. Fanning returned strong from injury, hitting a program-record .376 on 314 kills. Lockin took hold of the setter position and made it her own, logging 11.23 assists per set and helping the Bears lead the Big 12 in kills.
Additionally, Baylor senior Katie Staiger was named a second-team senior CLASS All-American by Premier Sports Management. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS honor takes into account athletics, academics, character and community service.
Staiger, a 13-time Big 12 all-academic honoree, leaves the program second all-time in career kills, with 1,700.
