LYNCHBURG, Va. — Maddison Kettler collected three hits and Taylor Ellis and Caitlin Charlton added two hits apiece as the No. 12 Baylor softball team rolled to an 8-3 win over Liberty on Thursday afternoon in the first game of the Liberty Softball Classic.
Baylor’s 10-hit attack was plenty for Regan Green (4-0) who limited Liberty to three hits, a walk and a run in five innings before Goose McGlaun pitched the final two innings.
The Lady Bears (13-3) scored three runs against Liberty (14-6) in the second inning as Ellis and Charlton hit run-scoring singles. Baylor added three more in the third as Kettler drilled a run-scoring double.
Baylor will continue to play in the tournament Friday against Ohio at 9 a.m. followed by Delaware at 11 a.m. The tournament will end Saturday as Baylor faces Delaware at 9 a.m. and Liberty at 11:30 a.m.
