No. 8 Baylor finished its weekend at the Judi Garman Classic splitting the last two games Sunday. The Lady Bears lost to Iowa, 3-1, and downed No. 17 Louisiana, 1-0. Baylor left California going 2-3 for the weekend.
Goose McGlaun was the starting pitcher for the Lady Bears as they took the field against Iowa (5-7). She held the Hawkeyes to one run in the first six innings. Iowa managed to push two runs across the plate in the top of the seventh inning. Regan Green came in for McGlaun and closed out the seventh, but the damage was done. Baylor did manage to score in the first inning. They had eight hits in the game, leaving nine runners on base.
In the second game, Gia Rodoni pitched a complete game. She struck out four and walked one, giving up eight singles over.
McGlaun hit a solo homer at the top of the first. It was her third home run of the weekend. Jessie Scroggins went 3-for-4 and stole a career-high three bases.
Baylor (11-3) will travel to Long Beach State on Tuesday for a 2 p.m. local time game. They will then travel to the east coast to participate in the Liberty Spring Classic at Liberty University, March 8-9. Liberty is located in Lynchburg, Virginia.
