MANHATTAN, Kan. — Julie James gave the Baylor soccer team the only score it needed, and the Bears’ defense did the rest in a 1-0 win over Kansas State on Friday night.
James broke a scoreless tie in the first half when she punched in the lead pass from Ariel Leach for the only goal, pushing the Bears (9-3-2 overall, 3-2-1 in Big 12) in front. Baylor limited the Wildcats (6-7-1, 1-4-0) to just one shot in the first half.
In the second, Baylor came up with a huge save from goalkeeper Jen Wandt on a K-State penalty kick to preserve the shutout win. The Bears will remain in the state of Kansas for a match with the Jayhawks in Lawrence on Sunday.
