PORTLAND, Ore. — Amanda Perez scored on a penalty kick early in the second half as Washington hung on for a 1-0 win over the Baylor soccer team Sunday in the Nike Portland Invitational.
The Bears (5-1-1) suffered their first loss of the season after opening the tournament with a 1-0 win over Portland on Friday.
Washington (6-2) recorded 10 shots to Baylor's eight. Baylor goalkeeper Jennifer Wandt had one save but gave up her first goal of the season after three straight shutouts. Washington goalkeeper Sarah Shimer finished with two saves.
The Bears will face SMU in Dallas on Sunday at 8:30 p.m.
