Bjoern Petersen was named the Big 12 Player of the Week after the sophomore handed Columbia’s ninth-ranked Victor Pham his first loss of the dual-match season in three sets, 7-6(5), 3-6, 6-4. The victory marked Petersen’s highest ranked win of his career.

This is the Baylor sophomore’s first weekly honor in his career. Petersen is now 9-7 this seaosn and 6-5 in dual matches with two wins over ranked opponents. Before Monday, his highest ranked win came over then-No. 21 Wayne Montgomery at the Oracle ITA Fall National Championships in Nov. 2017.

Petersen’s award is Baylor’s second of the season and 45th overall since 2000.
