LOS CABOS, Mexico — The Baylor men’s golf team finished in 10th place at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate with a 54-hole total of 19-over-par 871. The Bears carded a 7-over 291 in Tuesday’s final round at Querencia Country Club,
Baylor shot 17-over par and recorded wins over No. 17 Stanford (+22), No. 45 Ole Miss (+28), Rice (+29), Houston (+46) and No. 14 Wake Forest (+51). The Bears finished behind No. 1 Oklahoma State (-14), No. 13 California (-6), No. 15 Texas (+6), No. 29 Arizona State (+7), Duke (+8), No. 23 South Florida (+10), No. 19 Arkansas (+10), No. 2 Vanderbilt (+13) and No. 20 Florida State (+17). The 10th-place result snapped Baylor’s streak of six consecutive top-four finishes to begin the 2017-18 season.
Braden Bailey turned in his best round of the tournament with a 4-under 67, including six birdies, in Tuesday’s final round to climb 25 spots on the individual leaderboard into a tie for 36th place at 6-over 219. Garrett May carded an even-par 71 to finish tied for 10th place at even-par 213 for the tournament, recording his fourth consecutive top-10 finish.
