TUCSON, Ariz. — Fifth-ranked Baylor men’s golf took third place at the Arizona Intercollegiate, which wrapped up Tuesday at the Sewailo Golf Club.
The Bears finished with a 54-hole total of 14-over par 866, behind only tournament host Arizona (10-over 862) and fourth-ranked Texas A&M (12-over 864). Braden Bailey fired a 2-under 69 in the final round to finish at 3-under 210 and take top medalist honors, four strokes better than the next nearest player. Bailey had rounds of 72, 69 and 69. It was his second career title.
Garrett May was Baylor’s next best finisher, coming in a tie for seventh at 3-over 216. May had rounds of 78, 67 and 71.
Three Baylor golfers played in the Arizona Medalist, a sister tournament comprised of 44 individuals. Sophomore Colin Kober claimed his first medalist honor by shooting 3-under 69 in the final round to finish at 4-under 212, three shots clear of the field.
Next up for Baylor is the All-American, Feb. 16-18 at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble.
