LOUISVILLE, Ky. — One runner lost a shoe. Another fell to the ground.

But Baylor’s men’s cross country team kept moving forward, ultimately taking a 26th-place finish at the NCAA Pre-Nationals on Saturday. That finish was 12 spots better than the last time the Bears competed at the meet in 2014.

Devin Meyrer topped the Bears for the third time this season, as the sophomore came in 69th in a time of 24:15.33. Sophomore T.J. Sugg was the next to cross the line for the Bears, in 123rd at 24:43.15.

Baylor’s next action will come at the Big 12 Cross Country Championships, Oct. 28 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
