NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Led by senior Maggie Montoya, the Baylor women’s cross country squad raced to a fifth-place finish at the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday.

Montoya finished fourth overall in the 5,000-meter race, coming in at 16:28.40. Newcomer Lindsey Bradley, competing in her first race of the fall, was the next BU runner to cross, in 11th place at 16:40.50.

Baylor is unranked in the latest national poll, but beat out several ranked teams, including No. 16 Notre Dame, No. 24 Vanderbilt and No. 28 Utah. Providence won the race with 117 points, followed by North Carolina, Eastern Michigan, New Mexico and then Baylor.

Baylor’s men finished 19th, led by Eric Anderson in 77th place.
