Houston Astros announcer and former big leaguer Geoff Blum will be the featured speaker at the 19th annual Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce First Pitch Luncheon on Wednesday at the Ferrell Center.

Blum played 13 years in the majors, including two separate stints with the Astros. Ironically, though, he hit the game-clinching home run in Game 3 of the 2005 World Series for the Chicago White Sox, defeating the Astros. Blum’s shot in the 14th inning ended the longest World Series game to that point.

The luncheon will also feature the presentation of a pair of scholarships to Central Texas students, and the presentation of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame Award. Baylor baseball’s Steve Rodriguez and softball’s Glenn Moore, along with McLennan Community College’s Mitch Thompson and Manny Ordones, will offer season previews of their teams.

The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. and runs until 1 p.m.
