Prized Lady Bears recruit tears ACL
By Brice Cherry Tribune-Herald staff writer

Odyssey Sims
Irving MacArthur’s Odyssey Sims, a Baylor signee rated as the top high school point guard in the nation, tore the ACL in her right knee in MacArthur’s regional final loss to Cedar Hill on Saturday.
Sims suffered the injury about 20 seconds into the game. The injury will force Sims to have surgery and prevent her from playing in the McDonald’s All-American Game, but Baylor coach Kim Mulkey was confident that the guard could be on the court in enough time to start practice at Baylor in the fall.
“She’s got a long period of time,” Mulkey said. “She will be able to be here this summer, where we can work with her. You just deal with it.”
Current BU freshman Shanay Washington underwent reconstructive ACL surgery last April, and hasn’t missed a game for the Lady Bears this season.
