Baylor football signee chooses pro baseball

Baylor football signee Tyrell Jenkins won’t report for preseason drills, according to coach Art Briles.
Jenkins signed with Baylor as a quarterback out of Henderson High School in February, but was drafted as a pitcher by the St. Louis Cardinals with the 50th pick in the pro baseball draft in June.
“We’re happy for him,” Briles said. “We anticipated that Tyrell would be a bonus guy.”
Jenkins hasn’t yet signed with the Cardinals. The Bears will hold their first preseason practice Friday.
