Ex-Lady Bear scores 16 in Silver Stars' victory
WASHINGTON — Becky Hammon scored all of her 16 points in the second half, Chamique Holdsclaw added 17 points and 11 rebounds and ex-Baylor Lady Bear Sophia Young scored 16 points as the San Antonio Silver Stars beat the slumping Washington Mystics, 79-75, on Thursday night.
Young entered the game having lost eight of 11 overall and six of seven on the road, but have now won four straight in Washington.
“I know we’re turning the ball over, we’ve done that all year,” said Mystics coach Julie Plank, whose team entered the game ranked 11th in the league in turnovers. “We’ve won a lot of games turning the ball over and defending.”
