Baylor women's golf holds 9th place in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico apparently agrees with Hannah Burke.

Baylor’s top golfer fired a 3-under 69 Sunday in the first round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico and currently sits in third place individually.

Purdue’s Thea Hoffmeister is in first with a 6-under 66 and Alabama’s Jennifer Kirby shot a 67 to finish second.

As a team, Baylor is tied for ninth with Oklahoma and Northwestern with an 18-over 306. Georgia is currently in first with a 4-over 292.

Elsewhere for Baylor, sophomore Chelsey Cothran shot a 4-over 76 to finish the day in 26th, Lene Hafston-Morch is tied for 50th with a 7-over 79 and Jaclyn Jansen is tied for 73rd with a 10-over 82. Morgan Chambers withdrew prior to the start of the day’s action.

The tournament runs through today and finishes Tuesday.
