MONCTON, New Brunswick — Ex-Lorena pole vaulter Mark Thomas will join former Waco High and current TCU sprinter Charles Silmon and Baylor hurdler Christina Holland at the Junior World Championships this week.

Thomas took second place at state and has a career best 16-foot, 6-inch jump, which he earned in a Dec. 19 meet.

Holland was the 2009 high school national leader in the 300 hurdles with a 42.02 record. She will compete in the 400 hurdles. She earned a spot with a second-place 58.56 time at the U.S. outdoor championships and holds a personal best 57.94 time.

Silmon, a former high school state champion in the 100, set a new Mountain West Conference record at the league’s meet.

All three start competing today. Thomas begins at 10 a.m. CST, Holland at 10:35 a.m. and Silmon at 11:25 a.m.
