Web Exclusive: Whitney preview capsule

Tribune-Herald staff report

Friday September 3, 2010

Whitney (1-0) at Fort Worth Christian (1-0)

Last Week: Whitney defeated Fort Worth Polytechnic, 35-7; Fort Worth Christian defeated Bowie, 29-19

Breakdown: Whitney looks to improve its record to 2-0 for the first time in over 20 years.

Fort Worth Christian will have a disciplined team on both sides of the ball.

Quarterback Cade Stone runs a balanced wing-T formation but poses a threat whenever the ball is in his hands. Speedster Tyler Eager lines up in multiple spots on offense to utilize his athleticism and doubles as a TAPPS all-state defensive back.

“Eager plays 15 yards off the line and attacks the football,” Whitney coach Kenneth Gilchrist said. “They wait for you to make a mistake and capitalize on it.”

Whitney wants to stay home on defense and know where Eager and Stone are.

Offensively, Whitney wants to continue to improve and not make mistakes. Dillon Hightower and TQ Echols will be looked upon to make plays again this week.
